It doesn’t matter who it is,  or what they are laughing about, you are always drawn to it!  Laughter is the Pied Piper of human sounds that beckons you to come join in on the fun.  That being said,  such fun pales in comparison to the sound of your wife’s laughter as it echoes in your home.  The other day, I was downstairs working on something when I heard her laughing.   And though I was in the middle of doing something else, I couldn’t help but stop and smile.  It didn’t take too long before I had to put down what I was doing and see what amused her so.  And even though my wife doesn’t like her laugh, I love it.  Maybe it’s because hearing it always brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart.  And perhaps for a moment I am lost in the words of the poet, as quoted by Dieter Uchtdorf:

“I could feel the call of the poet to “[slip] the surly bonds of Earth and [dance] the skies on laughter-silvered wings.” (“Th Joy of the Priesthood, GC, Oct. 2012)

The Savior proclaimed:

“Blessed are ye that weep now, for ye shall laugh. (Luke 6:21)

Perhaps that is why I feel that:

“THE CLOSEST ANY MAN WILL EVER COME TO HEARING A CHERUBIC MELODY FROM ABOVE IS WHEN HE HEARS THE QUIET LAUGHTER OF THE WOMAN HE LOVES.” (Personal Quote)

So though we may find that weeping together is a part of this earthly journey,  the promise is that if we are faithful to our covenants with the Lord,  the sound of laughter will echo in our marriages throughout the eternities. 

So the next time you hear your spouse’s laughter, sit back and soak in the glory of knowing it is the sound of heaven that is found here on earth.
