As I travel the road of life with my wife I am reminded of the sacred nature of marriage and the wonderful doctrine that it can be eternal. As a man and his wife journey together their physical bodies will certainly age and eventually die, but their love is eternal. I wrote and dedicate the following poem to my wife on our 43rd wedding anniversary in an effort to communicate that though the physical man dies, the spiritual man lives forever as does his love for his wife. As Soloman wrote: “Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.” (Song of Soloman 8:7)
“Kisses From My Loving Blue Eyes”
They are so soft that you might not feel them
Down deep in my heart to see’um
They are kisses from my baby blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
Not felt nor tangible to the touch
On your face and lips they gently brush
They are kisses from my baby blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
But they are real ev’n if not to the eye
They go forth as sparkling deep sighs
They are deep kisses from my azure blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
Not felt nor tangible to the touch
On your face and lips they gently brush
They are deep kisses from my azure blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
And if the years should rob me of vision
They will still escape their prison
They are sweet kisses from my graying blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
Not felt nor tangible to the touch
On your face and lips they gently brush
They are sweet kisses from my graying blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
In life or death they always traverse
Across the majestic universe
They are deep kisses from my loving blue eyes
Falling softly on you from the skies
Oh sweet kisses from my loving blue eyes
On wings of angels forever they fly!
