The World Could Not Contain The Books That Should Be Written About Him!

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.” (John 21:25)

Those were the parting words that John wrote to end his gospel.  When I read this verse of scripture, and it has always been there, it captured my mind and heart. I read it over and over again. Not once, not twice or even three times. But ten times plus! “And there are many other things which Jesus did”, he wrote, “the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.” That is quite a profound statement.

I have now been writing Christ centered daily inspirational thoughts for over fifteen years. Occasionally I will have someone ask me how I can think of something to write about every single day. Sometimes I even wonder. So, when I read John’s final words, I received my answer. Because, if I examine my life, “I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that” I should write regarding the goodness and joy of the blessings that have come into my life through living a life that could be called worthy of being a Disciple of Jesus Christ.

I guess the Psalmist phrased it best, when he wrote:

“Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” (Psalms 145:2-3)

I can only add: Amen.
