The Anonymous Of God

A lovely couple! They have aged through the years since this photo was snapped. Haven’t we all! You probably don’t know them. They go about doing godly works with little or no fanfare. They prefer anonymity then the praise of the world. They don’t need it because that is not what motivates them to do good works. They are motivated by charity which Paul describes as “of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.” (1 Timothy 1:5)

I know this couple, as do many others! I have watched them for a lifetime serve faithfully their fellowman in various ways. A smile, a touch of the hand, outreached arms; in them you will find encouraging words of wisdom, and faith in all things that are good. They exemplify the tenants of their faith that teach them to believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. They strive to follow the admonition of Paul in seeking out anything that is lovely or of good report or praiseworthy.

You really do know this couple! Their faces may be different in your mind. Their skin color may be of a different shade. Their clothes may be of another nationality or generation of time. They even wear different badges of faith from all the worlds religions, or have no religious affiliation at all. They may be living or they may be deceased. They are found on both sides of the veil. Yes, you know them very well. They are the “Anonymous of God” who bless the lives of us all as we journey in this earthly life.

They are firm believers in the words found in Matthew: “…let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”

For us, here on earth, the “Anonymous of God” can be recognized because they have received His image in their countenance.

May I thank all who are the “Anonymous of God”, in particular this couple! Your faith, works, and words continue to guide those of us in our times of need. You bless the lives of us, our families, and our friends. Your sacrifices on behalf of others is anonymous to the world but they are not anonymous to us. More importantly, they are not anonymous to God.
