When A Puppy “Steals” Your Heart!

TheDiscipleMD

I didn’t really plan on it, and I am somewhat embarrassed to admit it, but for the first time in my life, a piece of my heart has been stolen by an animal. A ‘puppy’ to be exact! Maybe I’m just getting older and my need for love and attention, now that the kids have been out of the house for years, has grown. I have always liked dogs and we have had one as a part of our family since the early nineties. So, when a couple of years ago, our dog had to be put down, I figured, that might be the end of our ‘dog days.’ I was wrong!

About six months ago we got this Toy Labradoodle and named her Sophie. She’s still barely eight pounds. I won’t bother relating to you boring and annoying puppy stories that seem to easily escape the lips of dog owners. But, I will say that dogs are called ‘man’s best friend’ for a reason. They don’t judge; they don’t care what you are wearing or what you look like. They don’t care if you drive the nicest car or live in the fanciest of homes. They aren’t into image or much for political discussion. They don’t root for the wrong sports team. They don’t really seem to care about any of that except; they want to be loved. And if you can do that, they will always return your love and then some. Sometimes they even have the capacity to love you even when you don’t show them enough love in return. In short, they make a great friend.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we could copy some of their canine traits, such as their ability to manifest love. And we can of course. We just have to work like a dog to get there.
